November 2000
Ladies and gentlemen,
dear readers and friends of laser medicine,
Let me thank you for your kind interest and support. Laser Parner is now
openning the second year of its existence, and it gives us an opportunity to
look back. Our main goal has always been aimed at bringing new and interesting
information from laser therapy. We wanted Laser Partner to become a source of
information for laser beginners as well as for advanced laser therapists. At a
meeting of the Editorial Board several days ago we could state that our object
had been accomplished.
Laser Partner has obtained an official international catalogue ISSN code of
international on-line media, and its significance has been further improved. Now
we have an official journal, which you can advert to, which you can quote from,
which you can publish in. And it is our effort that its information value and
its impact factor grow up.
Statistics for the first year is as follows:
-
We have published twenty articles in total
-
Four papers dealt with general utilization of LLLT in individual
specialties (dentistry, general practitoner, gynaecology, rehabilitation)
-
Special applications of LLLT and case reports could be found in nine
contributions
-
Three comparative studies have been published so far
-
We have published four papers on theoretical issues of LLLT
At present, 8 new papers are prepared for
publication, and we intend to go on
in suitable frequvency of one or two new articles every month. However, we do
not intend to increase the number of pages only. The main challenge is to keep
high level of quality of published papers, thanks to active participation of
members of the Editorial Board.
We have been successful also in respect of technical
conditions, thanks to
upgraded server it is now possible for us to publish photographs and diagrams in
high quality. We have created direct links to similar international media. In
near future an on-line forum will be installed in order to make the discussion
and your reactions easier. Bringing Laser Partner to its own www address "www.laserpartner.org"
is only a matter of time.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to further laser
partner-ship.

Dear colleagues,
Today you have in your hands a journal devoted to laser techniques in
medicine. We are convinced that it will graduate into an interesting periodical which will be able to contribute to exchange of experience between individual
offices, cliniques and colleagues, as well as to conveyance of news in our
branch. On behalf of the whole of the Committee of the Czech Society for the Use of Laser in Medicine I wish this periodical a long and fruitful
life.
Ladislav HORÁK, M. D.
Chairman of the Czech Society for the Use of Laser in Medicine
Having been asked by the editorial board of a new journal, I am sitting at my computer in order to put down a few lines for its
editorial. On this occasion I recall my first laser, my first therapeutic attempts with the unit as well as my delight when I found out that it really
works! And thus I had started gaining my first experience, first knowledge, contacting other workplaces … And I have always made myself sure about one
non-changing truth, that there is never enough information. Therefore I would like to thank
those, who took up the work on the project of this journal, for doing so. Only those of
you, who had ever done such an imprudence, are able to appreciate all the work and efforts behind this step
(just imagine persuading authors for their papers!). I want to wish for them to keep this imprudence in their minds and let them never loose
it. For the journal, my pray is let it bring you more and more new information so that you can always say to yourselves after having read
it: "Oh my, I have not known that." And for us, who have undertaken to contribute an article from time to
time, our papers be new indeed.
